Quick answer

Each level adds one rule and keeps the ones below

Picante is La Corrida's difficulty. Picante 1 opens after your first cleared journey, and each level opens when you clear the one before it. Each level adds one harder rule and keeps every rule below it, from starting a heart down to rivals that cost a heart more.

Picante is how La Corrida gets harder once you can clear a night. Every level adds one rule and keeps the ones below it, so Picante 7 plays all seven. Here is each rule in the order the levels add it.

01.

Picante 1: Una menos

You start the night a heart down.

—

Rest stops matter more: plan one before the boss.

02.

Picante 2: Rival duro pega

Losing to a tough rival costs one more heart.

—

Skip tough rivals unless your hand of tricks is ready.

03.

Picante 3: Colmado caro

The colmado charges more for tricks, supplies and the malta, and a won table pays less.

—

Spend on the trick that fits your build, not on everything.

04.

Picante 4: Rival abre

Every rival goes first. Bosses keep their own rules.

—

You answer more than you lead: keep your hand flexible.

05.

Picante 5: Dos menos

You start another heart down.

—

A rest and a malta are worth more than a trick tonight.

06.

Picante 6: Jefe apura

Bosses push their rule harder: it comes sooner or more often, and El Super and La Bodeguera ask for more. El Rey del Parque's park rules stay the same.

—

Save the Escudo for the boss, and check the boss's card: it says the new number.

07.

Picante 7: Mano pesada

You're dealt 8 tiles every hand (not at El Rey del Parque's table).

—

One more tile to shed: drop the heavy ones early.

08.

Picante 8: Jefe pega

Losing a boss series costs one more heart.

—

Reach the boss with hearts to spare.

09.

Picante 9: Descanso corto

Rest stops heal one heart less.

—

Lean on the colmado's malta to heal.

10.

Picante 10: Sin perdón

Losing to a regular rival costs one more heart.

—

Every table counts now: no easy stops.

Clear a level to open the next one.

Jefe apura pushes most bosses' rules harder: the boss's card at the table shows the new number.

Questions from the table

How do I unlock Picante levels in La Corrida?

Clear a journey to open Picante 1. Each level after that opens when you clear a journey on the level before it.

Do Picante rules stack?

Yes. Each level keeps every rule below it, so a journey on Picante 7 plays the first seven rules together.
